It has been with us for quite some time, and many say that it is a trend that will not pass and that everyone is tired of it already… they can say what they will, it gets the job done. I personally love a good picture frame wall and make sure that it is present in my designs.
Why do I love it so much?
As I already said, there are always walls in the house that need care.
We treat the walls with paint, a mirror and a console, paintings or a picture frame wall.
Who knows how difficult it is to find a beautiful picture for the living room at a reasonable price. It’s an almost impossible task.
The cheapest and easiest solution is setting up a picture frame wall.
The point is to play with frames of different sizes, shapes and colors and create an interesting and special gallery wall using the different frames.
It is important that there is harmony between the frames, a color that repeats itself, a frame with a repeating motif. All the frames should match with each other, despite the differences between them.
Usually, when you are told a picture frame wall, you immediately think that only family photos should be put in the frames, and I completely agree that above the sofa in the living room it is not necessary to put pictures of the family from the bar mitzvah or from the last wedding!
A picture frame wall does not require us to put only family photos, although there are places like in the hallway of the house, the wall of the owner of the staircase is definitely appropriate, especially in the digital age we live in, where developing family photos is not something that happens and everything is on a computer or mobile phone.
When I design a picture frame wall in a central place such as above the sofa in the living room, at the entrance to the house, I treat the wall as a blank canvas for painting. Using the frames, I create a visually interesting composition with frames of different sizes and shapes, of course the colors and shapes of the frames should correspond with the design style of the house.
I usually arrange the composition on the floor and change it as needed. I do this in stores before I buy the frames. Don’t feel uncomfortable doing this because the most frustrating thing is discovering at home that one frame is missing to complete the composition.
After I have built the composition of the frames and I am happy with it, there are several options for backgrounds.
I am in favor of combining fabrics with interesting textures. There are always clothes at home that are no longer in use, a headscarf, leftover curtains that are just the right time to use them! You can also invest in a little bit of money and go to Nachalat Binyamin and buy leftover fabrics according to the colors that are guiding the house.
Another option is to simply use leftover wallpaper or do a quick computer search for interesting wallpapers and print them at home and just frame them! Proverbs that you love can also be expressed in a picture frame wall.
In short, the picture frame wall is here to stay, they will say whatever they say and can always be changed and refreshed. And its cost usually does not exceed 80 USD.
