Combining different fabrics and textures is my biggest passion.
The world of upholstery fabrics is a very rich and complex world. There are dozens of combinations between types of materials and a variety of processes with different levels of quality that create almost infinite textures in appearance and quality.
Every time, I find myself excited for the day when I accompany clients in choosing the perfect living room, knowing for sure that it will wonderfully upgrade their home.
Naturally, we like to renew the design of the house and especially upgrade the living room in the hope that this change will provide a new and pleasant atmosphere, according to every person’s unique personal taste. Home design does not require high financial expenses and by renewing armchairs and choosing designed fabrics, it is possible to achieve amazing results, which will give a new look to the sitting area.
I enjoy the game of endless possibilities that can be done with the variety of different fabrics. I touch the different textures, and wait for the stage when the moment comes to choose and combine the different colors and prints.
I combine prints with solid colors and create a new meeting of colors and textures that provide a feast for the eyes and jumpstart the look of the calm sofa we chose, and this is how the space gets alive. The colors I chose for the fabrics will appear and correspond with other places and accessories in the house. This renewal, keeps life in harmony.
Choosing a fabric is such a significant choice in designing your living room
For me, there is no particular rule, everything goes and everything connects. Orange with light blue, pink with light blue and yellow, velvet and more. The point is in the right combination and dosage. The colors should repeat themselves in one way or another in the different prints. Just like ping pong.
Usually, the elongated sofa that we all know will have a calm, classic color that can be combined with any pillow in the shade chosen to combine.
The place to go wild is in choosing the fabrics for the armchairs and pillows that will be on the sofa.
The number of pillows on the sofa will range from 3-4 (depending on the size of the sofa), and there can be two or even one armchair.
If we chose a gray sofa, any color actually suits it and this is where the combinations game begins.
I usually choose so that one of the pillows is scrunched up with an interesting print that will catch the eye. It is likely that I will also choose the pillow with the interesting print that will appear in the armchair. After we have chosen a cushion with a print that combines several shades, I will choose a dominant color that appears in the cushion’s print and look for this color in a plain fabric. You can choose this plain color that has a delicate texture and that it will not be just a plain cushion in a solid color. Another cushion that I choose can have a more relaxed print than the first print but a print that corresponds with the same shades.
And so, I slowly build the colors that will appear in the house, and I take into account that there will be a carpet in the living room and that it also needs to correspond with the cushions. The more you choose a carpet with a checkered print, the more limited you will be in the fabric combinations of the cushions and armchairs. Therefore, when choosing the carpet, choose a relatively uniform shade with one or two shades at most, and that way you will be less limited, and you will be able to combine a variety of colors in the cushions and complementary items.
After you have chosen your fabrics, always ask for the leftover fabric. The leftover fabric can be framed, hung on the wall, and made into a gorgeous frame wall display!
