I admit that I have a serious weakness for rugs.
In my opinion, the moment I spread the rug in the living room, something happens, the living room immediately comes to life, the rug adds warmth, color and easily upgrades the appearance of the entire living room.
There are many types of rugs nowadays, I usually choose the rugs with short fibers that come in a variety of colors and prints and in addition they are also pleasant to the touch, there are of course the wool rugs which are usually patchwork rugs that consist of a play of textures and prints and are usually not the most pleasant to the touch.
Why would you need a rug?
A rug has many advantages and functions. It is true that it can also be used to warm the floor in the winter when it is very cold, but we must not forget the main function of any rug – a design item in every sense, as an integral part of the decoration in the home, office and many other places.
The rug does its job effectively by literally highlighting the entire space in which it is spread.
If we put a rug in the living room, while we stand somewhere else in the house and look towards the living room, we will then see a kind of “emphasis” that really stands out and marks a kind of territory separate from the rest of the rooms – this is thanks to the rug.
If you have already chosen to incorporate a rug into your living room, it is important that you integrate it well.
How do you choose a rug?
The field of rugs, especially woven rugs, is very large, with a very large number of types, products, styles and qualities – the choice when purchasing a rug is sometimes accompanied by quite a few hesitations.
If your living room is in shades of brown, do not put together a rug that will also be in shades of brown that will not add anything to the space, on the contrary, choose a rug with an interesting shade that will make the living room pop and correspond with the decorative pillows that you choose later.
The rug frames the living room for us and dictates its size to us. As soon as you choose a relatively small rug for your living room, you will automatically reduce the living room and the seating area, as soon as you choose a large rug, the rug will give a feeling of space and a larger living room. So do not underestimate the size of the rug. Take measurements of the sofa and see how much you can get away with the rug on the sides of the sofa and only then choose the size of your rug.
A rug, when placed in the right place in terms of interior design, gives the space definition and character and distinguishes between different areas, even within the same small and confined space. When there is a large, central rug, it attracts maximum attention from everyone who enters or is in the room.
It is a shame to put a rug under a heavy piece of furniture and it is better to place the furniture, such as a sofa, armchair or central table around the rug and not on it. In addition to the fact that it is more difficult to clean and perform quality maintenance on the rug in such a situation, over time the weight damages the rug’s weave and damages it.
Sometimes we feel like simply changing the atmosphere and renewing ourselves with some item, furniture or anything that can make us feel good about starting over and being fresh. Of course, the higher the level of desire and aspiration, the higher the financial expense, which is not always within reach and so, unfortunately, we are forced to give up, compromise or wait patiently until we manage to obtain the necessary financing.
When it comes to wanting to change a living room, for example, and not because of wear and tear or noticeable and distracting defects in the sofa or armchair, but simply because of the same aspiration for something new, for a different look and to introduce a dimension of color and decoration to the main living room, then it is a matter of spending thousands of NIS for a good quality living room set and it is possible to achieve an excellent and attractive result by taking another, easier and much more surprising route – introducing a rug or several rugs to a space that requires a change and decorative transformation, such as introducing a rug to the living room. Yes, a rug can work wonders wherever it is placed, changing the appearance of a space and giving it dimensions and qualities in every element, from heat and cold functionality to providing a completely new atmosphere even when nothing else in the living room is changed.
